Aaron lafrenz, stylist
Aaron’s passion for hair started in his teenage years, with early hair experiments on friends inspired by goth, mod and punk music scenes. Studies in art history gave way to formal hair training in beauty school. He refined his skills further at the Sassoon Academy in Santa Monica, learning Vidal Sassoon’s architectural approach to haircutting. As a young stylist, his work received the Intercoiffure/Vidal Sassoon “Excellence in New Design” Award.
A love of fashion photography and hair made New York his home for most of his career, where he learned from industry legends Luigi Murenu, Yannick D’Is, Wendy Iles and Paul Hanlon. Pursuing editorial and freelance work, Aaron also lived abroad in Berlin, Hamburg and Paris. He styled hair for Fashion Week in New York, London and Paris, with shows for Armani Couture, Lanvin, Louis Vuitton, Givenchy, and Dries van Noten. He worked on film and print advertising for Goldwell, Wella, Schwarzkopf, KMS and Chanel, and had opportunities to work with icons like Martin Scorsese, Terry Richardson and Jean-Baptiste Mondino.
Originally from Oregon, Aaron returned with over 20 years experience. In the salon he loves the variety of work: shaping haircuts with scissor or razor for structure, volume, or movement or transforming haircolor with blonding, highlighting, lowlighting, balayage, grey blending and grey coverage. Translating trends to everyday hair, he finds inspiration in the uniqueness of every individual.
